Measure before you browse

Nothing on this page can tell you what size to buy. Every card lists the measurement that decides the size for that gear type — take it first, then use the product listing to compare options within the size you already know you need.

Start with the size finder

How these are chosen

These are commonly available options at each price tier for gear categories our sizing guides already cover — a starting point for comparison, not a ranked list of winners. We do not test equipment, and no brand pays for placement here.

Protective gear is different

Helmets, pads, and skates should not be bought from any listing without checking the exact model's chart and confirming the fit in person. For anything worn in contact, treat uncertainty as a reason to see a fitter rather than to add to cart.

What the price tiers mean

Budget

Adequate for a first season or a sport a child may not stick with. Expect shorter life and fewer adjustment features, not worse safety certification.

Balanced

Where most youth players are well served. Better adjustment range and durability, which matters most for gear worn at every practice.

Premium

Worth it for committed players in a settled size. Rarely worth it for a child still growing quickly or still deciding whether they enjoy the sport.

One rule cuts across all three tiers: a correctly sized item in a lower tier beats an incorrectly sized item in a higher one, every time. If the budget is tight, spend it on the gear worn most — skates, cleats, and shoes — and economize on what gets used least.
